Led by Marcello Francioni, CulturaGo's Head of Education, the webinar provided valuable insights into the development process behind CulturaGo’s courses. CulturaWebinars are a platform for sharing knowledge and tools that bridge cultures and connect people on a global scale. These webinars offer a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and engage in Q&A sessions with like-minded individuals. If you missed the latest webinar, don't worry! In this blog post, we'll summarize the key points discussed and provide a video recording for you to watch and share with others who may benefit from the content.
Supporting International Experiences
CulturaGo courses aim to enable international educators and program coordinators to play a more active role in supporting international experiences. Although we partner and work with different types of organizations, Marcello highlights how we work primarily with International Education organizations, offering pre-departure support to alleviate some of the workload associated with supporting students during their time abroad. Our courses provide country-specific and identity-specific resources to develop cultural awareness, cultural intelligence, career readiness, and overall well-being. We have also introduced a community platform where learners can connect, share knowledge, and support each other.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Another topic Marcello speaks to is the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in intercultural education, particularly in the context of supporting students' well-being abroad. By integrating effective intercultural and DEI strategies into the pre-departure cultural preparation process, individuals can develop essential social and emotional skills, adaptability, cultural understanding, and a sense of belonging to a global community. Having designed the outline for the curriculum for CulturaGo DEI modules, Elisabet speaks to their importance - a key step for the growth of the company, to keep it mission-driven, and to continue to support people from all walks of life,
“I didn't know that what I was developing was going to be so important”.
The Importance of Human Interaction
Marcello goes on to discuss how one of the reasons our courses stand out is because of the people involved in their creation. CulturaGo recognizes the importance of human interaction and understanding. The team consists of various specialists, including DEI specialists, anthropologists, sociologists, and travel writers. These experts bring their specialized knowledge and localized experiences to craft what our courses are today and provide valuable advice to learners. Ana elaborates on this while talking about her experience working on the CulturaGo courses,
“It’s challenging but also rewarding. As Marcello said, there's so many different people and so many different pieces that make up these courses and so not only do you have the written text but you also have the visual assets, the video interviews, the course guides - there's so many different pieces of the puzzle that you've got to fit together.”
